Similarly to last year, those in the Oxfordshire/Wiltshire/Berkshire area were encouraged to use the
Royal Oak at Bishopstone
as a staging post on their travels. It is on the Icknield Way, between Swindon and Wantage.
The pub is owned by a local organic food farm and prides itself on the quality of the meat on its traditional menu.
It was open for DID travellers from 0800 for breakfasts.
The Royal Oak is within five miles of the A420 Oxford to Swindon road (due south of Shrivenham), and close to the A345/A419/M4 interchange. It is on OS 1:50 000 sheet 174, and the National Grid Reference is SU 245 837.
Please note that the Aston Martin Heritage Trust at Drayton St Leonard was not opening for DID this year.
The following events were within easy reach of Oxford:
Option 1. MGCCAWC Tour from Abingdon to Frilford Heath
Option 2. Drive with Chiltern TRs to the Shuttleworth Collection
